Westar ride texts: what we send, how you sign up, and how to stop. Last updated October 2026.

The program

Westar ride texts are sent by Westar Transportation LLC, a non-emergency transportation company in Auburn, California, to riders (or the person who booked for them) who ask for them. Texts come from (916) 824-3491. They are only about rides you have booked with us:

  • Ride reminder the evening before each ride, with the date, pickup time and pickup address. Reply 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel.
  • Driver on the way, with an estimate of how many minutes until the driver arrives, when we have one.
  • Driver has arrived at the pickup.
  • Short answers to your replies (for example, “your ride is confirmed” or “your ride is canceled”).

We never send marketing or promotional texts on this program.

How you sign up

You get ride texts only if you tick the ride-texts box yourself. The box is optional and is not ticked when the page opens. You don’t have to agree to texts to book a ride or to use your account. There are two places to tick it:

1. On the booking form

At westartransportation.com/request-a-ride, in the “Before you send” section, under the phone number you give for the booking:

The booking form's Before you send section. The third checkbox, not ticked, reads: Optional: text me ride reminders and driver updates at this number. Below it is the full text-message disclosure.
The booking form, as it appears to every visitor. The ride-texts box is the third one.

2. In your account (“Your rides”)

After you sign in at westartransportation.com/account with a code we email you, the “Your name and phone” step has the same optional box under your mobile number. You can turn texts on or off there at any time (“Change name, phone or texts”). Because this step is behind sign-in, here is what it looks like:

The account page's Your name and phone step: name, mobile phone, then an unticked checkbox reading Optional: text me ride reminders and driver updates at this number, with the full text-message disclosure below it.
The account sign-up step, shown after email sign-in. The box is not ticked until you tick it.

The words next to both boxes are:

Optional: text me ride reminders and driver updates at this number.

Westar Transportation will text this number the evening before each ride (reply 1 to confirm or 2 to cancel), and when your driver is on the way and has arrived. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. You don’t have to agree to texts to book a ride or use your account. See our text message terms and privacy notice.

We keep a record of each agreement: the number, the wording shown, the date and time, and where it came from.

How to stop, and how to get help

Reply STOP to any text to stop all ride texts. We’ll send one text confirming you’re unsubscribed, and no more after that. Reply START to get them again. You can also turn texts off in your account or by calling us.

Reply HELP for help, call (916) 581-1076 (Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm), or email dispatch@westartransportation.com.

To cancel a ride that is less than 4 hours away, please call (916) 581-1076; texts can’t cancel it that late.

Carriers

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Texts are not for emergencies: in an emergency, call 911.

Privacy

We don’t sell, rent or share your mobile number or your agreement to receive texts with anyone for their marketing. Mobile numbers and text consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates, except the providers that deliver our texts, who may use them only to deliver our messages. See our privacy notice.
